Major re-construction project secured

Following a detailed tendering process the Cambridgeshire builders, Edward Thackray Building Limited secured a prestigious million pound contract with a leading UK Insurer.

This project arose from an insurance claim for defects in the building. It entails both substantial demolition and re-construction to a high standard of workmanship.

The property is valued at many millions and it must be faithfully restored in order to ensure its market value is maintained and enhanced in the years ahead.

Edward Thackray Building secures prestigious health and safety award

The Cambridgeshire based firm recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practise amongst UK contractors.

The company's application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for a uniform standard across the business.

Edward Thackray said 'This was a tough accreditation to achieve and involved many hours input from us. We hope that this will provide comfort to our diverse customer base and demonstrates that we are up to speed on construction safety issues.'

SAFEcontractor accreditation is expected to enhance the company's ability to attract new contracts and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is up for renewal.

Darran Hughes, Operations Director of SAFEcontractor said, 'Major organisations can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health and safety policies'.

'More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management in the way that Edward Thackray Building Limited has done. The firm's high standard has set an example, which hopefully will be followed by other companies within the sector.'
